It is a by-product of the sugar industry, obtained by processing sugar beets. The noodles appear as thin, crushed, white slices of beetroot and have a fresh smell. The slices are pressed until they reach a dry matter content of approximately 23%.
Beetroot noodles have been recognized as a valuable source of animal feed. They have a high energy value, a significant protein content (between 7-10%), and contain minerals essential for animal health. They are also easy to digest and, due to their high fiber content, can help prevent acidosis.
Beetroot noodles can be a key ingredient in animal rations, especially for dairy and beef cows. When introduced into the diet of dairy cows, the product contributes to the proper functioning of the rumen by reducing the risk of acidosis and improving overall cow health. Additionally, it contributes to increasing milk production, having a demonstrated lactogenic effect.
For beef cows, beetroot noodles can replace a portion of the corn silage in the ration. They positively influence weight gain and are recommended during the transition from liquid to solid feeding in calves, both before and after weaning.
In pig nutrition, beetroot noodles help increase weight gain, produce leaner carcasses, and improve performance during gestation and lactation.
